Chapter ServicesThe Arc of Tennessee works to build and support strong local chapters of The Arc throughout the state. We provide technical assistance, training and support to all affiliated local chapters, including: Services Updates – on state disability services, changes in state agencies’ governance, plans and procedures impacting Tennesseans with disabilities Legislative Advocacy and Updates – up-to-date information on issues before the State legislature and bills that affect the lives of people with disabilities Public Awareness – quarterly newsletter, newspaper clipping service, awards program Board Orientation – for new local chapter representatives on The Arc of Tennessee board of directors Strategic Planning – PATH (Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope) practical, easy, fun way of developing goals and objectives for local chapters New Chapter Development – help with government forms, writing charter of incorporation, Bylaws, 501c3 non-profit paperwork, policies and procedures; and The Arc affiliation requirements Affiliation Compliance – technical assistance and support to help chapters maintain affiliation with The Arc by meeting certain fiscal, membership and reporting requirements Membership Processing – maintenance of a statewide membership database, transmittal of local chapter members to The Arc US Individual Advocacy, Information and Referral – assistance to families who seek help navigating the education and service delivery systems Disability Days on the Hill – set days and times where people with disabilities and their family members meet with their legislators to discuss issues that affect their lives Tennessee Disability MegaConference – offers sessions for self-advocates, families and professionals that introduces them to new ideas and refines their skills; offers opportunities for networking; and provides “hands-on” activities and displays of disability products and services If you would like to form a local chapter of The Arc in your county, contact Peggy Cooper. | ||
